A geographic information system (GIS) utilizes computers for mapping, analyzing, and querying both natural and artificial features. It consists of hardware, software, data, and people that collect, store, manipulate, and display geographically referenced information. The results can be represented in any combination of maps, tables, and charts to be used as an important decision-making tool.
The mission of the City of Webster GIS division is to work together with all City departments to maintain and expand the City's geographic database and to provide mapping and analysis services to staff and the public.
